CHECK THE FIT

Your controller matters.

Skipper D targets Windows desktop workflows with GRBL-based CNC and laser controllers. Compatibility is specific, not universal.

Before buying

  • Identify the controller and exact firmware/version, not only the machine brand.
  • Check whether your controller speaks the GRBL commands and realtime controls your workflow needs.
  • Confirm serial connectivity and any driver your controller requires.
  • For a laser, establish the controller's power range and laser-mode behaviour. For a spindle, confirm how the S command and direction relate to the hardware.
  • Check work coordinates, travel limits, homing, coolant outputs and axis directions against your machine documentation.

We are not publishing a blanket compatibility list or hardware performance minimums without verification. Proprietary controllers, non-GRBL protocols, rotary/multi-axis work and 3D machining should not be assumed supported.

Not quite compatible? Tell us.

Send the controller model, firmware identification, connection method and what failed. Small reproducible cases are especially useful. Supporting a machine can require a software fix, configuration changes or an unsupported feature; we will not pretend those are the same thing.

Specialized by design.

The workspace is intentionally different from conventional CAD/CAM packages. If you want a 3D solid modeller or a familiar clone of another program, this is not that promise. If you want to work directly with 2D objects, deliberate machining recipes and a connected sender, start with the field guide.
